Gaudium

Gaudium is a psychedelic trance and progressive psytrance project based in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is formed by Denis Bajramovski and Andreas Wennersköld, who start working together in 2004. The name is Latin for satisfaction.

Background

Before forming Gaudium, both Denis Bajramovski and Andreas Wennersköld already have experience as DJs in the early dance scene. They later move into production, making music on an Atari 1040STE. Both also take part in several underground music projects before deciding to make music together under the Gaudium name.

Style and sound

The project’s music is described as a mix of funky psychedelic trance with progressive and techno elements. It is also tagged as psytrance, progressive trance, progressive psytrance, psychedelic, and psychedelic trance.

Releases and labels

In 2004, after time spent in the studio, the duo prepare a promo CD in an effort to secure a record deal. DJ Bim hears the material, which leads to Gaudium’s first release on Midijum Records. That release is Liquid Frequency, which appears on the Vibration 5 compilation. Later in 2004, label manager DJ Anti from Spiral Trax contacts them after hearing their music, and plans are made for their first album.
