This Gareth Williams is a former member of This Heat, the UK band known for moving between prog and post-punk. He leaves the group in 1981 and later goes to India. He also co-authors The Rough Guide to India. In 1985, he and Mary Currie create Flaming Tunes, a cassette-only collection of songs. Williams dies of cancer on 24 December 2001. Flaming Tunes is later reissued on CD in 2009.
