Garageland
Garageland is an indie rock band from Auckland, New Zealand, active between 1992 and 2002. The group releases its music on Flying Nun and takes its name from a song by The Clash.
Style and influences
The band’s sound is shaped by influences from Pixies, Pavement, The Clean and The Velvet Underground. It is known for concise, catchy pop songs, with critical attention in the UK and the US.
Line-up
The group includes Andrew Claridge, Jeremy Eade, Andrew Gladstone, Dave Goodison, Debbie Silvey and Mark Silvey. In the band’s credited roles, Gladstone plays drums and sings, Eade sings and plays guitar, Claridge plays guitar, Goodison plays guitars, mandolin and vocals, Mark Silvey plays bass and sings, and Debbie Silvey plays guitar on early recordings, including Last Exit to Garageland.
