Gaptooth is the recording name of Hannah Lucy, an electro-pop artist active since 2005. She is born in Hampshire and is based in East London, with earlier connections to Oxford and Bristol. Born in 1984, she begins performing as Gaptooth while living in the UK.

Background

While studying politics, philosophy and economics at Oxford, Lucy works part time for indie label Truck Records and helps run the indie and electro club night Chicks With Decks with two friends. She also meets the producers A Scholar and a Physician there; they later co-produce her debut album. Their credits include work with Foals, Chicks on Speed and MC Lars.

Releases and appearances

Gaptooth’s songs appear on Truck Records’ compilation The Only Way is Truck and on Riot Grrrl Berlin’s Free Pussy Riot. Her debut single, Ladykillers, is released in 2012, followed by Enduring Freedom in 2013. Her debut album is also scheduled for release in 2013.
