Galantis

Galantis is a Swedish electronic music group from Stockholm, active since 2012. It is made up of Christian Karlsson and Style of Eye, with Karlsson originally known for work with Miike Snow and Style of Eye being Linus Eklöw. The project sits between EDM and pop, with a sound described through house, dance, dance-pop, deep house, big room house and club influences.

Formation and background

Karlsson and Eklöw meet at the Robotberget studio in Stockholm and begin developing Galantis after discussing a more emotional style of EDM that keeps pop’s melodic focus. The project starts as a duo and records from the Stockholm archipelago in the Baltic Sea.

Karlsson is also associated with production work on Britney Spears’ Toxic, while Eklöw is known for work on Icona Pop’s I Love It.

Releases

Galantis release the Smile single on Atlantic in 2013, followed by Runaway (U & I) in 2014, which brings the group international attention. Their debut album, Pharmacy, appears in 2015 and includes the singles You, Peanut Butter Jelly and Gold Dust.

The second album, The Aviary, arrives in 2017 and includes No Money, which becomes the group’s first single to debut on the Billboard Hot 100. The albums Church and Rx follow in 2020 and 2024.

Later membership changes

Linus Eklöw later steps away from the project, although he continues to appear publicly with Christian Karlsson for some performances and related projects until 2021.
