Gaia

Gaia is a Dutch trance group made up of Armin van Buuren and Benno de Goeij. It is active from 2000 to the present and is associated with trance.

Alias of Armin van Buuren

Gaia first appears in 2000 as an alias used by Armin van Buuren for the uplifting trance track 4 Elements, created for the 4 Elements festival in Holland. Van Buuren then largely stops using many of his aliases and releases music under his own name for a period.

Return of the project

The Gaia name returns in 2009 with Tuvan, a track made with Benno de Goeij and issued for the A State of Trance 2009 compilation. The project continues in 2010 with Aisha for the A State of Trance 2010 compilation, and the name also features heavily in the 450th episode of van Buuren’s radio show.
