Gabriel Jacoby

Gabriel Jacoby is an American singer, songwriter and producer from South Carolina. He works across R&B, soul and alternative music, with his sound also drawing on hip-hop, folk, blues, country, funk and Southern influences. He is also a poet and rapper, and his writing is shaped by a strong emphasis on emotion, character and personal experience.

Background and musical development

After moving to Tampa, Florida, Jacoby learns guitar, bass and drums, and he also teaches himself production. His move into rapping comes through poetry, which remains part of his artistic identity. He performs, writes, produces, mixes and masters his own music, and he plays several instruments as part of his recording process.

Early attention and recordings

While still in high school, Jacoby gains attention with “Mr. Poet” on SoundCloud, a track that showcases his lyricism and attracts streams in the hundreds of thousands. After spending eight months in jail, he presents his voice more fully on “reptile” in 2022. He later releases “as you stand next to me”, “dreams” and other material that continues his mixture of narrative songwriting and alternative production.

Style and creative approach

Jacoby’s music is built around robust vocals and deliberate songwriting, with lyrics that draw on a range of lived experiences. His work often combines Southern feeling with emotionally direct delivery, and he aims to leave his personal imprint across each stage of the recording process. He also directs much of his visual work himself, with influences that include Akira Kurosawa, Quentin Tarantino and Tim Burton.

Release history

His first album or EP, gutta child, is released in November 2025.
