Gabriel & Dresden
Gabriel & Dresden are an electronic music duo from San Francisco, United States, made up of Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden. They work in electronic, electronica, house and progressive trance, and form part of the US dance music scene that develops around club culture, remixes and DJ-led productions.
Career
The duo forms in 2001 and works together under the Gabriel & Dresden name for six years before taking a break to focus on solo projects. They reunite in 2011 after several years apart and continue as an active act.
During their first run together, they achieve 19 number one Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play remixes and tracks. They also release three DJ-mixed compilation albums and an artist album, and win seven International Dance Music Awards.
Key tracks, remixes and collaborations
Their catalogue includes tracks such as “Arcadia”, “Dangerous Power”, “Let Go” and “Tracking Treasure Down”. They also work on Andain’s “Beautiful Things”, which becomes one of the duo’s best-known associated tracks.
Under the Motorcycle alias with Jes Brieden, they release “As The Rush Comes”, which wins the International Dance Music Award for Best Progressive Trance Track and reaches number 11 on the UK singles chart.
The duo also remixes and interprets tracks by The Killers, Annie Lennox, Sarah McLachlan, Dido, Tiësto, Paul Oakenfold and Way Out West. Their style combines trance and progressive elements with pop, indie and soul influences.
Solo activity and side projects
After the break from Gabriel & Dresden, Josh Gabriel launches the Different Pieces label and focuses on Winter Kills and Andain. His album Eight brings together techno and house elements. Dave Dresden works on the Dresden & Johnston project and records the US radio hit “Keep Faith” and “That Day” with Nadia Ali on vocals, while also remixing Owl City, Nadia Ali, BT and The Crystal Method.

Gabriel & Dresden are described as a multiple award-winning duo, with their early work bringing them major dance chart success and several industry honours. Their reunion is presented as a significant moment in their career, following a period apart before they return to performing together.
