Gablé

Gablé are a French experimental folk and lo-fi group. They are a three-piece act with two men and one woman, and they build their sound around samplers, recorders and even a Hoover, alongside melodic singing, spluttering vocals and brief comic or noisy outbursts.

Style and influences

Their music sits away from more polished French pop traditions and draws instead on indie and lo-fi references including the Moldy Peaches, Meat Puppets and early Sonic Youth. The result is a deliberately rough, playful and eccentric style that fits the freak folk and experimental tags associated with them.

Live performances

Gablé are also known for their live shows, which present a particularly striking contrast between their apparently unassuming appearance and their energetic stage presence. Their performances use unusual equipment and a stripped-back setup to support songs that combine melody with noise, humour and improvisation.
