G2 Definitive Genesis

G2 Definitive Genesis is a Genesis tribute band that forms in 1997. The project begins with three musicians who meet by chance and start out as the progressive rock tribute act Kudos: David Wilk on bass, Paolo Picone on guitar and Steve Jarman on drums. Neale Worley then joins on keyboards. After Paolo Picone leaves, David Rollins joins the band.

The early set includes music by Genesis, Supertramp, Pink Floyd, UK, Yes and Marillion, but the group later narrows its focus to Genesis, using the Seconds Out album as a central reference point. Steve Jarman and David Rollins both leave, and Neale Worley and David Wilk continue developing the Genesis tribute project together.

Finding a singer takes several months, until Terry Day joins and becomes the vocalist. Jeff Walker auditions on drums and joins immediately after creating a strong impression. The band still needs a name at this stage and cycles through several Genesis-related possibilities before David Wilk notices the small “G2” marking on Jeff Walker’s bass drum, which becomes the name. David Rollins later becomes ill and leaves, and Chris Cawte joins as guitarist after Jeff Walker recommends him.

G2 Definitive Genesis performs as a self-contained live act with a 10K PA system and a light show. It concentrates on larger venues and theatre-style events, and its aim is to recreate Genesis music with live energy and visual atmosphere. The group presents itself as a detailed live recreation of the band’s sound rather than a general rock cover act.
