Futur Primitif

Futur Primitif is the project of songwriter and singer Daniel Lefkowitz, who was previously a member of the American indie-folk group The Low Anthem. The act begins as a solo project and later becomes an electric duo.

Members and sound

Lefkowitz performs on voice and guitar. He is joined by Jared Elmore, who plays synths, drum machine and additional electronics. The project incorporates elements of Velvet Underground-era rock, sparse folk and a dense, wall-of-sound approach.

Releases

The debut album, Wilder Shores Of Love, is self-released. The second album, Machineteeth, is recorded live with a full band made up of members of The Low Anthem and is issued through Integrity Records in Europe. The album is preceded by the single Nuclear Shockwave, with Digital Space following as a second single.

Performances

Futur Primitif performs in venues and festivals including the Bowery Ballroom in New York, the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco and the main stage of the End of the Road Festival in Dorset. The project also performs in cities from London to Los Angeles.

Activity

The first album Wilder Shores Of Love appears in 2011, and Machineteeth follows later. Futur Primitif is active as a duo around this period and releases material on Integrity Records.
