Funebrarum

Funebrarum is a death metal group from Clifton, United States, active since 1999. The band forms in April 1999 with the aim of making heavy old school death metal. Its early line-up centres on guitarist Nick Orlando and vocalist Daryl Kahan, with Dario Derna on drums, David Wagner on bass, and later Brian Jimenez on drums.

Formation and early recordings

The group records its debut demo, Triumphant Ascent, later in 1999. After Dario Derna leaves, the line-up stabilises around Orlando, Kahan and Wagner, with Jimenez completing the first full configuration. The band then records the Tombs of Sleeping Darkness demo, which is later issued as the album Beneath the Columns of Abandoned Gods on Necroharmonic Productions.

Releases and line-up changes

Following the Tombs of Sleeping Darkness / Beneath the Columns of Abandoned Gods recordings, Brian Jimenez leaves. Orlando, Kahan and Wagner continue writing and developing material. In 2003, with session drummer Justin De Torre, the band re-records material for the 7-inch EP Dormant Hallucination, released on Midnight 666 Records. The album Beneath the Columns of Abandoned Gods is reissued the following year by Necroharmonic Records.

Later activity

In 2005, Shawn Eldridge joins on drums and Matt Medeiros joins on second guitar. The group then records a split CD with Swedish band Interment on Conqueror of Thorns Records. Plans are also made for a second full-length album on Necroharmonic Productions and for further live activity, including a European tour with Interment. The band remains active.
