Friska Viljor

Friska Viljor are a Swedish indie rock band from Stockholm, active since 2005. The group consists of Daniel Johansson and Joakim Sveningsson.

Johansson and Sveningsson start the band after both of their relationships end. Their early writing draws on heartbreak, but later work broadens into songs about happiness, sorrow and hope.

Style and writing

The band’s music uses a wide range of instruments and shifts between genres. Their typical sound includes mandolin, ukulele, glockenspiel, accordion, clarinet and saw. Over time, the music moves away from euphoric choruses towards a more serious and reflective direction.

Albums and songs

Their third album, For New Beginnings, marks a change in subject matter and mood. It includes If I Die Now, Manwhore and Hibiskus Park, with lyrics that move from soul-searching to nostalgia and apathy.
