FreQ Nasty is a breaks artist from Fiji and New Zealand, born in 1969. He is associated with the early development of breakbeat and is described as one of the scene’s pioneers, with music that helps define the genre’s formative period.

His work also connects with what is described as the FutureStep movement, a loose grouping of artists drawing on breaks, dubstep, rock, ragga, grime and funk. His tracks use chopped, halfstep rhythms and a style that aims to push breakbeat forward while keeping a link to its original energy.
