Free Control

Free Control are a band from Leicester. They form in their current lineup in 2008/2009, after making music in one form or another for about 10 years. The group consists of Paul Cole on drums and percussion, Greg Shute on guitar and vocals, Sally Hossack on guitar, vocals and flute, Oliver Bloor on bass, and Mike Sole on keyboards.

Style and performance

Their music draws on prog rock, contemporary jazz, hip hop beats and classic songwriting, and it is described as hard to categorise. It combines more cerebral, meditative passages with heavier, rocking rhythms. The visual side of their live work is also a notable part of the act, with live visual manipulation appearing regularly at performances.
