Freaks

Freaks is the name used by several different acts, including a house and electronic duo, a Japanese thrash band and a Dutch band also known as the Freaks & the Dirty Dancers.

Justin Harris and Luke Solomon

The best-known Freaks act is the duo Justin Harris and Luke Solomon, who run the Music For Freaks label. They form in 1994 and begin with releases that draw on mid-tempo house, filter disco and minimal techno. Their later work includes tracks such as “The Creeps” and “Where Were You When The Lights Went Out”, and their performances develop into a live setup with Stella Attar on vocals and Jonny Rock on guitar, alongside Harris and Solomon on keyboards and percussion. They also remix artists including Kasabian, Damon Albarn and Chicken Lips.

Japanese thrash band

Another Freaks is a Japanese thrash band that contributes to the Shonen Knife covers album Every Band Has a Shonen Knife Who Loves Them.

Dutch band

A further act called Freaks, also known as the Freaks & the Dirty Dancers, is a Dutch band that includes extra stage performances as part of its live presentation.
