Franck Roger

Franck Roger is a French house DJ and producer associated with deep house, chillout, ambient and garage. He starts DJing and producing in the mid-1990s and builds a reputation for a broad house sound that includes house, deep, dubby, spiritual, broken and soulful styles.

Career

Roger releases music on a range of international labels, including Kenlou, Versatile, Crash, Flowers, Needs, BBE, Defected, Sole Channel, King Street, Especial and Spacekat. He is first introduced to the Paris deep house scene through his early single on Straight Up, the label behind Playing For the City.

He works closely with keyboardist Olivier M’selem, and later with Gene Perez and Mike Ciro from Masters At Work, as well as vocalist Chris Wonder, who appears on much of his music. His collaborators also include Alix Alvarez, Arnold Jarvis, Osunlade, DJ Spinna, Mr V and Jovonn.

Labels and projects

In 2004 Roger starts his own label, Real Tone Records, with Lionel Marciano. His music also appears on Seasons Records, where he releases an album with 12 tracks in 2006. That release is licensed for the Japan market through P Vine and also issued in South Africa.

Influences and support

Roger cites Stevie Wonder, Vince Montana, Mongo Santamaria and Blaze among his musical influences. His work receives support from figures including Little Louie Vega, Frankie Feliciano, DJ Spinna, Osunlade, Kerri Chandler and Dennis Ferrer.

Performance

He tours internationally and performs in cities including Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, London, Tokyo and Johannesburg.
