FoxXglove

FoxXglove is a songwriting project formed in spring 2009 by Bevin Hamilton and Lisa Donnelly, both from Kansas. The pair first meet at the age of fourteen at theatre camp and remain in contact through their school years before later reconnecting as students at Kansas University.

Formation and background

Hamilton and Donnelly both work as solo artists as well as in FoxXglove. After transferring to Kansas University in their sophomore years, they each pursue music separately: Donnelly forms a blues and funk band with local musicians, while Hamilton sings in a rock band. Donnelly later lives and studies in Spain, where she continues to sing and write, and Hamilton moves to Los Angeles to begin work as an actress and musician. They reconnect in Los Angeles and begin writing songs together.

Work and style

The duo build their music through collaboration and songwriting, drawing on shared experiences, travel, and personal relationships. They workshop songs at South by Southwest and also work with other songwriters. Their self-titled EP is part of their recorded output, and they celebrate its release at the Mint in Los Angeles.
