Foster the People
Foster the People are an American group from Los Angeles, formed in 2009. The act begins as the solo project of Mark Foster before becoming a full band with the addition of Cubbie Fink on bass and vocals and Mark Pontius on drums. The current line-up also includes Sean Cimino on guitar, keyboards and vocals, and Isom Innis on keyboards and vocals. The group is associated with dance-pop, indie pop and pop, and is signed to Columbia Records.
Releases and songs
The band releases its debut self-titled EP in January 2011, followed by the studio album Torches later that year. That album appears on Star Time/Columbia. Its first single, “Pumped Up Kicks,” becomes a breakout hit and reaches number one on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart, number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 18 on the UK Singles Chart. Subsequent releases include Supermodel in 2014, Sacred Hearts Club in 2017, and Paradise State of Mind in 2024. The band also issues the EPs Pick U Up in 2019 and In the Darkest of Nights, Let the Birds Sing in 2020.
