Flux

Flux is a Taiwanese group from Taipei. The name has been used by several different acts, but the Taipei-based band is described as a pop and indie pop project with infectious melodies and sentimental lyrics. The available information also identifies Flux as an electronic, industrial, synthpop, experimental and dub act.

Other uses of the name

The name Flux has also been used by a German female-fronted post-punk and new wave band active between 1982 and 1984, including a West Berlin group formed by Thomas Sontheimer, Wolfgang Dumatin and Christiane Hemberger-Marzina. That version of the band releases two self-titled albums in 1982 and 1983, later adding Andreas Bohnenberg on percussion, and records a final live tape in 1984.

It is also an alias used by Dutch techno producer Maarten van der Vleuten from 1992 to 2007, including releases on Outrage Recordings, Klang Elektronik, ESP, Mekanik and Signum Recordings, with notable titles such as True Feelings, Expanding Universe and the limited album Laiad. A release of the name appears as Phlux.

Flux is further used for a project by James Plotkin and Ruth Collins drawing on material left over from O.L.D., who release Protoplasmic on Relapse Records in 1997.

Additional bands and projects

Other acts called Flux include a Dutch band founded by Daniel Milano in 2004 with Remco Boers and Joan Duarte, later joined by Thomas Broedelet, and known for the album Mokkels, Geld & Alcohol. That group breaks up by the end of 2004.

The name is also used by a Finnish band formed in 2006 by Asta, Vesa and Ville, who issue two singles on na-no Records before signing to Electric Fantastic Sound and releasing Safe+sound in 2009. Another short-lived use of the name belongs to trance producer Steven J. Birch, associated with the tracks Stone Henge and My Planet, and also connected with the aliases Lucid Dreamer and Solstice.

Further entries include a Dutch band centred on singer and composer Irene Wiersma, with keyboard player Michiel Klein and drummer Johan Kooi, a Danish band, a split-up band from Hexham in north-east England, an alias of UK producer Flux Pavilion, a rapper from Louisiana, and a UK prog rock and jazz rock band that releases one album titled Flux in 1973.
