Flowdan

Flowdan, also spelled Flow Dan, is the stage name of Mark Viera, a grime MC from East London in the United Kingdom. Born in 1980, he begins as a jungle MC in the late 1990s before moving into grime and becoming one of the founding and longest serving members of Roll Deep. He joins Roll Deep from UK garage collective Pay As U Go Cartel, and he is also part of the collective Cemetary Warriors.

Roll Deep and early releases

At Roll Deep, Flowdan appears on the group’s main singles and on all three major CD releases: Rules & Regulations, In At The Deep End, and Return Of The Big Money Sound. His first chart success comes with an appearance on the UK Top 20 track “FWD Riddim”.

Solo work and collaborations

Flowdan releases the album Original Dan in 2009. He also puts out the EPs Big Mic Man (2002), Sky Diver (2003), and Serious Business (2014). He frequently appears on mixtapes by other grime artists including Wiley, Frisco, Killa P, Slew Dem, D Power and J2K.

He is closely associated with The Bug, collaborating with him on the albums London Zoo and Angels & Devils as well as on various singles. The track “Skeng” becomes particularly well known in dubstep circles.

Cemetery Warriors

Flowdan also forms the collective Cemetery Warriors with Riko, Gods Gift and Killa P, presenting their work in a Caribbean dialect. He tours internationally, including in Canada, Sweden, Belgium, France and Japan.
