Flow Dan

Flow Dan, also spelled Flowdan, is an MC from East London. He is also known by his real name, Mark Viera. He begins as a jungle MC in the late 1990s before moving into grime and dubstep.

Roll Deep and early grime work

He is one of the founding and longest serving members of Roll Deep, joining after time with the UK garage collective Pay As You Go and working with Wiley to start the crew. He features on all of Roll Deep’s main singles and appears on its three major CD releases: Rules & Regulations, In at the Deep End, and Return of the Big Money Sound. In at the Deep End has sold 85,000 copies to date. His first chart success comes through the UK Top 20 track “FWD Riddim”.

Solo releases and collaborations

In 2009, he releases the album Original Dan. His discography also includes the EPs Big Mic Man (2002), Sky Diver (2003), and Serious Business (2014). He appears regularly on mixtapes by other grime artists, including Wiley, Frisco, Killa P, Slew Dem, D Power, and J2K.

Cemetery Warriors and work with The Bug

He is part of Cemetary Warriors and also forms the collective Cemetery Warriors with Riko, Gods Gift, and Killa P, presenting their work in a Caribbean dialect. Flow Dan is also closely associated with The Bug, with collaborations on the albums London Zoo (2008) and Angels & Devils (2014), as well as on various singles. The track “Skeng” becomes especially well known in the dubstep scene.

Tours and wider activity

Flowdan tours internationally and has performed in countries including Canada, Sweden, Belgium, France, and Japan.
