Flosstradamus

Flosstradamus is a Chicago electronic act associated with festival trap, hip hop, trap and trap EDM. It begins as a production duo made up of J2K and Autobot, and is active from 2006. The project comes from Chicago, United States, and is linked with the Hi Def Youth label.

Formation and membership

The name Flosstradamus is used by Curt Cameruci, who also performs as DJ Autobot, and Josh Young, who also uses the names J2K and YehMe2. From 2007 to 2016, the project consists of Cameruci and Young, both from Chicago. After that period, Cameruci continues to use Flosstradamus as a stage name while Young pursues solo work under YehMe2.

Style and early reputation

Flosstradamus is known as an early pioneer of trap music. A major part of its profile comes from a remix of Major Lazer’s “Original Don”, which helps bring the genre wider attention. The act also builds a following through mashups of familiar songs, combined with a steady dance-oriented flow, and develops a reputation in dancehall and club settings.

Collaborations and projects

The duo works with a range of artists, including Kid Sister, Diplo, Juicy J of Three 6 Mafia, The Cool Kids and A-Trak. It also teams up with Dillon Francis to form Dillstradamus, a touring and live performance project.

Singles and later releases

In 2016, Flosstradamus releases “Came Up” with FKi 1st and graves, featuring Post Malone and Key!. In 2017, Cameruci releases “Back Again” under the Flosstradamus name, featuring Waka Flocka Flame and Mayhem through Ultra Music.
