Florida

Florida is a Chilean group active since 2011. The name is used for more than one act, but this entry refers to the lo-fi psychedelic band associated with Shdwply Records.

Formation and lineup

The project begins with Daniel Rineer, who starts writing and recording lo-fi psychedelic material in early 2006. By early 2008, the line-up forms in Brooklyn, New York, with CJ Jankow, Jordan Pettingill and Daniel. Jankow and Pettingill are from Florida and have played together in earlier bands including Cop City Chill Pillars and Freak Church. Daniel is born in Alaska and has lived in Texas, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Arizona, San Francisco and Los Angeles, and continues to live in New York.

The current line-up includes Teruhisu Uchiyama of Japan on bass, John Martinez of Arizona and Los Angeles on drums and backing vocals, and Daniel on guitar and vocals.

Style and label

Florida is described as a lo-fi psychedelic band and is signed to Shdwply Records. The group is also tagged with rap, pop and emo.
