Floodlights

Floodlights are a Melbourne indie rock group active since 2019. The band forms in Melbourne in 2018 and consists of guitarists and vocalists Louis Parsons and Ashlee Kehoe, bassist Joe Draffen and drummer Archie Shannon, who also performs as Dragoons.

Style and background

The group makes rock music that combines 1980s alternative rock with 1990s New Zealand jangle pop. Their sound is described through catchy songwriting, with vocal delivery and increasingly detailed instrumentation as key elements.

Releases

Floodlights self-release their debut EP, Backyard, on 10-inch vinyl in 2019. The EP includes the single Nullarbor, which draws substantial attention internationally. Later in 2019, Spunk Records reissues the EP, and the band follows this with an east coast tour of Australia.

The band’s debut album, From a View, arrives on Spunk Records and Woo Me! Records. It shows the development of Floodlights as a group, with more intricate instrumentation and the vocal style that has become a notable part of their music.
