Flibbertigibbet

Flibbertigibbet forms in South Africa in the 1970s. The group consists of Dave Williams, Assie Williams (now O’Donnell), Joanna Dudding (now Glenn) and Barrie Glenn. Dave and Assie Williams are formerly of the Irish folk rock band Mellow Candle.

Style and repertoire

The group plays mainly traditional British folk music, with some original material. Their work sits within folk and progressive folk.

Recordings

Flibbertigibbet release an LP on vinyl in South Africa titled Whistling Jigs to the Moon, which is later reissued on CD in England. They also appear with the track “Black Leg Miner” on the National Trust compilation A Lot of Jolly Good Folk.

Dave Williams lives in South Africa, Assie in England, and Jo and Barrie live in Canada. The group is associated with Bracken Records and Fruits de Mer Records.
