Flawed Mangoes

Flawed Mangoes is the recording name of Evan Lo, an independent artist from Rochester. His work spans instrumental hip hop, hip hop, boom bap, chillwave, downtempo, instrumental music, math rock, shoegaze, indie and indie rock.

Lo first begins to see moderate success in 2020, then gains wider attention in 2023 with the track “Killswitch Lullaby”. That release introduces a gentle, loop-based guitar style that becomes closely associated with “hopecore” content on TikTok. He develops this approach on the debut album Killswitch Melodies and the follow-up album The Unwavering Hand.

He later moves towards a more shoegaze-oriented sound, which underpins the two EPs Anomaly I and Anomaly II. Before using the Flawed Mangoes name, he releases post-rock material on Bandcamp as Somniferous.
