Flaming June
Flaming June form as an acoustic act in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk in 2009. The group includes Steve Calder on violin and Clare Calder on backing vocals, whistle and guest percussion. Louise writes the songs and has built up a large body of material over many years.
The band play folk and alternative-leaning acoustic music. Their live work includes support slots with Eliza Carthy and 6 Day Riot in 2010, and a later support with Ellen & The Escapades in Cambridge. Their performances centre on Louise’s red guitar and her heartfelt lyrics, with the act described as both catchy and dark, and as an acoustic whirlwind.
