FKA twigs
FKA twigs is the professional name of Tahliah Debrett Barnett, an English singer, songwriter and dancer from Cheltenham, England. She is associated with alternative R&B, ambient pop, art pop, avant-garde, avant-garde pop and dance, and her work also draws on electronic music, trip-hop, R&B and experimental pop styles.
Early life and dance work
Born and raised in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, Barnett moves to London at 17 and works as a backup dancer for a number of well-known musicians before developing her own recording career.
Recording career
She makes her musical debut with the EPs EP1 and EP2 in 2012 and 2013. Her first studio album, LP1, appears in 2014 and reaches number 16 on the UK Albums Chart and number 30 on the US Billboard 200. The album is nominated for the Mercury Prize.
In 2015 she releases the EP M3LL155X, then takes a four-year break before releasing her second studio album, Magdalene, in 2019. After signing with Atlantic Records, she releases the mixtape Caprisongs in 2022.
Her album EUSEXUA follows in 2025, continuing her blend of club music with her wider electronic and genre-crossing approach.

Her music is widely described as genre-bending and is shaped by a mix of electronic, trip-hop, R&B and avant-garde elements. Across her releases, she is noted for combining singing, songwriting and dance performance within a distinctive pop framework.
