Fjaak
Fjaak is a Berlin-based electronic and techno group active since 2009. The project centres on Kevin Kozicki, Aaron Röbig and Felix Wagner. Their music is built from analog equipment and moves between reflective power house, warehouse techno and harder, driving dance tracks, with occasional influences from U.K. garage, dub and breakbeat hardcore.
Formation and early releases
Wagner and Röbig have known each other since childhood and begin making music together before starting to produce techno under the FJAAK name in the late 2000s, while still teenagers. Their first release is the digital EP Introduction, issued in 2012 on Baalsaal Records. In 2013 they follow it with their first vinyl releases, Remember Me on Klasse Recordings and Mind Games on Baalsaal.
Label releases and debut album
After another Klasse release, 2014’s Po' Folk, the group signs to Modeselektor’s 50 Weapons label and issues a series of 12-inch singles, including a split release with Rødhåd. When 50 Weapons folds in 2015, Fjaak moves to Modeselektor’s main label, Monkeytown. Their single “Wolves” appears at the end of 2016 and is included on the trio’s self-titled debut album in early 2017.
Own labels
After joining Monkeytown, the group focuses more on its own labels, Fjaak and Spandau20, which continue to carry a tightly packed release schedule.
