Fit For An Autopsy is an American deathcore band from Jersey City, New Jersey, active since 2007. The group also sits within brutal death metal, death metal and deathgrind. It forms around guitarist Pat Sheridan, guitarist Will Putney, guitarist Tim Howley, drummer Josean Orta, vocalist Joe Badolato and bassist Peter “Blue” Spinazola.

Career

The band releases its first demo in 2008 and follows it with the EP Hell on Earth in 2009. Its debut album, The Process of Human Extermination, arrives in 2011, followed by Hellbound in 2013. In 2014, vocalist Nate Johnson leaves and Greg Wilburn briefly joins as his replacement. The following year, Joe Badolato becomes the vocalist and the band begins work on a new album.

Absolute Hope Absolute Hell is released in 2015, and the band then issues the split EP The Depression Sessions in 2016 with Thy Art Is Murder and The Acacia Strain. The Great Collapse follows in 2017, and the band signs to Nuclear Blast in 2018. Its fifth studio album, The Sea of Tragic Beasts, appears in 2019, and the standalone single “Fear Tomorrow” follows in 2020. The sixth studio album, Oh What the Future Holds, arrives in 2022. In 2023, the group releases The Aggression Sessions, a split EP with Thy Art Is Murder and Malevolence.

Current members are Will Putney, Pat Sheridan, Josean Orta, Tim Howley, Joe Badolato and Peter “Blue” Spinazola. Earlier members include Nate Johnson on vocals, Greg Wilburn on vocals, Brian Mathis on drums, and former touring musicians Seth Coleman, Charlie Busacca, Shane Slade and Davier Pérez.

Label and recognition

Fit For An Autopsy is signed to Nuclear Blast. The song “Far from Heaven” is later named by Loudwire as the 35th best metal song of 2021.
