Fired Up
Fired Up is a hardcore band formed in Connecticut after the end of several local hardcore groups, including Forthright, Not a Chance, Your Mistake and Late Night Revenge. Fred and Mike start the group with the aim of playing fast hardcore in the style of the early 1980s. Dean joins on vocals, and Chip is asked to learn bass.
Recordings and releases
The band records a demo in 2005 with Will at Dead Air, which leads to interest in a follow-up 7-inch on Youngblood Records with Sean. In 2007, the band releases When the Lights Go Out on Youngblood. A later release, Doomed to Repeat, appears on Youngblood Records in 2009 as a seven-song 7-inch.
Touring and line-up changes
After When the Lights Go Out, Fired Up tours the United States with Justice and then tours Europe with True Colors. Before the European tour, JR joins on bass while Chip is playing with Tombstone Minds. Jeff later takes over bass for several tours in Canada and on the East Coast.
Later activity
The band notes that Doomed to Repeat is intended as its last record. By that point, Mike has moved to Oregon, Dean has family commitments, Jeff is based in New York, JR performs solo as James Maple, and Chip is working with a video camera in Queens.
