Finn

Finn is a British music producer and one-man band, the project of Finn McCorry. He works in grime, electronic, house and related club styles, with a sample-heavy sound that draws on grime, R&B and US club music, alongside influences from Baltimore club, Jersey club, house and garage.

Early releases and recognition

His debut single, Keep Calling, is received as a strong first release and is played widely by DJs including Mr. Mitch, DJ Q, Murlo, Kode9 and Eclair Fifi. It helps establish him as a producer and DJ with broad knowledge of club music and a strong ear for what works on a dancefloor.

Subsequent releases

In 2015, Finn releases the remix EP Finn Remixed. He also co-produces Jammz’s single Final Warning. His 2016 EP Knock Knock expands his sound further, bringing in loopy house associated with Roule and Dance Mania, as well as the fast-moving hip-hop style of Just Blaze and Heatmakerz.

Style

Finn is noted for using samples in a club context and for blending grime with R&B, house, garage and other strains of contemporary electronic music. His work is described as standing out from other sample-based producers because of the way he places sounds within tracks for DJ use and dancefloor impact.
