Fields

Fields are an Anglo-Icelandic electronic indie band from London, active from 2006 to 2009. The group is associated with rock and indie, and the line-up includes Nick Peill and Jamie Putnam.

Formation and line-up

The band forms in London and first plays live in early 2006. At that stage, the group includes Nick Peill on vocals, acoustic guitar and keyboards; Þórunn Antonía on vocals, keyboards and synths; Henry Spenner on vocals and drums; Matty Derham on bass guitar; and Jamie Putnam on electric guitar. The verified line-up names Nick Peill and Jamie Putnam as members of the group.

Recordings and releases

Fields sign a deal with Atlantic Records that allows them to continue releasing music through their own Black Lab Records set-up as well as Atlantic. Their debut album, Everything Last Winter, is released in 2007. A second album, Hollow Mountains, is planned for 2009.

Style and context

The band is described as electronic and indie, with a sound that sits within rock and indie. The name Fields is also used by several other groups, including a 1969 Los Angeles heavy rock outfit, a keyboard-led trio linked to former members of King Crimson and Rare Bird, and an Irish band with a 2020 release.
