Fiat Lux is a British synth-pop and new wave group from Wakefield, United Kingdom, active since 1982. The line-up includes David P. Crickmore, Steve Wright and Ian Nelson. The band forms in Yorkshire and works within new romantic, new wave and synth-pop styles.

Career

Fiat Lux forms in 1982 with Steve Wright on vocals, Ian Nelson on saxophone and keyboards, and Dave Crickmore on guitars and keyboards. The group records a small run of releases, including four singles and a mini-LP titled Hired History. Its best-known single is Secrets, which reaches number four in New Zealand. Another single, Blue Emotion, also appears in the top ten in countries in Europe.

Touring and reception

Outside the UK, Fiat Lux tours Europe with acts including Nik Kershaw, Howard Jones, Blancmange, The Sound and Level 42. In the UK it has a handful of chart hits before dropping out of wider view, while Secrets remains the song most commonly associated with the band.
