Fear

Fear is a punk rock band from Los Angeles, United States, formed in 1977 and active since then. It is associated with punk, hardcore punk, hardcore, punk rock and old school punk, and is credited with helping to shape the sound and style of hardcore punk.

History

The group reaches a wider audience after an infamous 1981 performance on Saturday Night Live. Lee Ving is the band’s only constant member, and the lineup changes several times over the years.

Members and related players

Members associated with the band include Lee Ving, Geoff Kresge, Chuck Biscuits, Amos Cook, Philo Cramer, Eric Drew Feldman, Flea, Eric Razo and Derf Scratch. At one point, Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers plays bass in the group, and the band includes Chuck Biscuits as well.

Legacy and appearances

Fear influences a number of other bands, and some of them cover its songs as tributes. Its music also appears in several video game soundtracks. “I Love Livin' in the City” appears in The Warriors, SLC Punk and Tony Hawk's Underground 2, while “The Mouth Don't Stop (The Trouble with Women Is)” appears in Grand Theft Auto V on the fictional punk rock radio station Channel X.
