Faye
Faye is a Swedish vocalist also known as Faye Hamlin. She first gains attention as one quarter of the all-girl group Play, a multi-million-selling act that tours internationally in support of artists including Destiny’s Child and Aaron Carter. She later records as a solo artist, initially under the name Fanny, and works with the Swedish production duo Montauk.
Solo work
In her solo material, Faye moves away from her earlier pop background and focuses on a more personal sound built around pristine vocals, layered harmonies, electronic textures and strong pop hooks. Her music is described as combining electronica and pop, with a style that is understated, evocative, catchy and commanding.
One of her releases is Water Against The Rocks, issued with Montauk and released through Best Fit Recordings under exclusive licence from Hybris. The release is presented as a step away from her earlier work, with gleaming synths, electronic backing and rousing beats. A limited 7-inch edition also includes the track Come To Me.
Earlier career
Before her solo work, Faye spends her adolescence touring widely with Play. Her later recordings are shaped by the fact that she wants to control her own sound and use her voice differently from in her previous pop projects.
Other appearances
Her track I Still Have a Dream appears on the Alarmcode 112 soundtrack.
