Faux Pas is the alias of Tim Shiel, a Melbourne-based producer working in experimental electronic music. He mainly uses virtual instruments to construct layered pieces that bring together synthetic and organic sounds, and his work is shaped by an interest in the possibilities of sound and in expressing intense emotional shifts through music.
The name Faux Pas is also used by several other acts in the input, including a hardcore/metal band from Mugla, Turkey; an all-female rock group from Greensburg, Pennsylvania; a softcore band from Tri-Cities, Washington; a drum and bass artist from Minneapolis; and a Danish electronic group formed in 2001. The Danish group begins with Martin and Jakob, later joined by Kristian and Allan, and releases the EP Interested/Interesting, the single When The Music's Loud Enough (We Won't Hear The World Fall Apart), and the track La faite comme ca, which is used as theme music for a Danish television documentary. It also plays Roskilde Festival after a series of gigs in Denmark.
