Fat Pat is a rapper from Houston, Texas, born Patrick Lamont Hawkins. He is an original member of DJ Screw’s Screwed Up Click and is also associated with Dead End Alliance. His style sits within hip hop and Houston’s Southern rap scene.

Career

Fat Pat is most active in the mid-1990s, working closely with his brother Big Hawk and his longtime friend Lil’ Keke. He is also known as Mr. Fat Pat and P-A-T. He signs to Wreckshop Records and appears in the Houston rap scene alongside other local artists linked to DJ Screw.

Recordings and releases

Fat Pat’s debut album, Ghetto Dreams, appears shortly after his death. His second album, Throwed In Tha Game, follows a few months later and includes the single “Holla At ’Cha Later”. Around the same period, DJ Screw and the Screwed Up Click release their group debut, Screwed Up For Life.

Death and legacy

Fat Pat dies in Houston in 1998 after being shot following an appearance fee collection at a promoter’s apartment. His album release party for Ghetto Dreams becomes a gathering where artists including Scarface, Willie D, Lil’ Keke, DJ Screw, the Botany Boys and South Park Mexican attend to pay respects. His brother Big Hawk also dies later, in 2006.
