Fat Digester are a music-based collective that sometimes includes dancers, rappers and visual artists. The group blends jazz, funk and hip hop, with a focus on social comment as well as dance-oriented performance. They are based in Nottingham.

Releases and media

Fat Digester release their records independently and handle recording, production, manufacture and distribution themselves. They release three independent singles: Funky Situation, Adios and Trippin Out. Funky Situation reaches number one on Radio Trent FM’s Hot 50. Adios brings them their first television appearance, on Carlton TV’s Xposure, alongside jazz musician Courtney Pine. Trippin Out features on BBC Children in Need 04. The track Sweet Sweet wins the Budweiser Budvar Brewed Jazz competition.

Recognition and live work

The band wins the Budweiser Budvar Brewed Jazz title for best UK pub jazz act and performs at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival in 2008. They also appear on the alternative festival circuit and at venues across the UK and abroad. Their live performances are described as energetic and engaging.
