Farriers
Farriers are a folk band from Belfast, Northern Ireland. They are a five-piece group that mixes alternative folk with Americana and a roots-based style. Their songs are written and performed by Stephen Macartney and Rachel Coulter, who sing and play guitars. Aaron Jackson plays bass guitar and provides backing vocals, Kate Squires plays viola, and Jonny Tate plays drums, including an old beat-up kit and occasional water trough percussion.
Style and influences
The band draws on a wide range of listening, from bluegrass to 1980s pop. Their sound combines folk elements with a heavier, stomping energy when needed.
Writing and releases
Farriers write songs about remote places, isolation, alcohol, and combinations of those themes. Their first release is the Coastlines EP.
