Faraway

Faraway is a dub and new wave group from Warsaw, Poland. It forms in January 2023 and becomes a five-piece line-up. The group has a regular presence in Warsaw, with frequent shows in the city and a strong association with the Chmury club, which serves as a recurring base for its live performances.

Style and sound

The group combines dub with the Polish post-punk and new wave tradition. Its sound includes a heavy, driving bass line, a guitar placed between atmospheric and abrasive textures, dynamic drums, keys that connect broad, space-like effects with pulsing motifs, and a melodically guided free-jazz saxophone. Its music also draws on references from a wide range of places and traditions, from the poles to the equator, and from Brygada Kryzys to African tribal rhythms.
