Fantasma

Fantasma is a name used by at least three different music projects, including a South African collective, a Portuguese solo project and a black metal project from Bavaria in Germany.

South African collective

One version of Fantasma is a five-person project led by Spoek Mathambo. It combines electronica, hip-hop, traditional Zulu maskandi, shangaan electro, South African house, psych-rock and punk. The line-up includes DJ Spoko, known as a major figure in Bacardi house, former Machineri guitarist André Geldenhuys, drummer Michael Buchanan and maskandi multi-instrumentalist Bhekisenzo Cele. The group draws on sounds associated with both urban and rural South Africa.

Portuguese solo project

Another Fantasma is the solo project of Portuguese musician Miguel Correia, also known as Mike Ghost. Correia is active in several other projects and is also a photographer. He is a founding member of Men Eater, Riding Pânico, Correia and Mike Ghost, and also plays or has played in For The Glory, More Than a Thousand and Devil in Me. He also appears as a touring member of Sam Alone & The Gravediggers. Under the Fantasma name, he works in a psychedelic style that mixes pop and rock and uses Portuguese-language lyrics. The project features guest musicians, including Brent Hinds of Mastodon, who sings in Portuguese on the single “Morder para Sangrar”.

German black metal project

A third Fantasma is described as a raw black metal project from Bavaria in Germany.
