Family Machine

Family Machine are a four-piece group from Oxford, England. Their music appears on releases for Alcopop! and Stalker Records, alongside their own activity around the local acoustic indie scene.

Releases and recording

The group completes an album with Ian Davenport at Courtyard Studios, following the earlier Flowers By The Roadside EP. Their recordings also appear on compilations issued through Alcopop! and Stalker Records.

Local scene and related work

Family Machine run Beard Museum, a club night and record label that serves as a hub for the Oxford acoustic indie scene. It is associated with festivals, gigs and releases in the area.

Line-up

The main line-up includes Jamie Hyatt on guitars, hand claps, singing, Rhodes, harmonica, tea, macaroons and biscuits; Jason Stilwell on drums, singing, hand claps, foot stamps, shakey things, bottles and tins; Darren Feller on bass, singing, hand claps, piano, Hammond organ and footstamps; and Neil Durbridge on electric guitar, singing.

Associated contributors include Gavin McComb on slide guitar, guitar, singing and production; Ian Davenport on engineering, production, piano, singing, hand claps and footstamps; Emily Rolt on piano; John Bennet for wise words and tea; Julie Bennet for kind words and encouragement; and Richard Willo, who lends parts of his drum kit and is described as friendly to the group.
