Fallulah is the stage name of Maria Apetri, a Danish-Romanian singer-songwriter and musician from Tårnby, Denmark. She is born in 1985 and grows up in Tårnby before later moving to Jyderup in North West Zealand after her father dies when she is nine. Her family background includes a Romanian father and a Danish mother.

Before focusing on music, she has a short dancing career. As a child, she spends much of her time on dancing tours in the Balkans and Eastern Europe with her performing parents, and she later attends Kalundborg Gymnasium. At twenty-one, she moves to New York to pursue dance, then returns to Denmark to concentrate on music.

Her recording career begins in 2009 with the single As I Lay My Head, which is named P3s Uundgåelige by DR P3 and enters the Danish Singles Chart. In 2010, she releases her debut album, The Black Cat Neighborhood, which reaches number three in Denmark and is certified platinum. The single Out of It reaches number one on the singles chart.

Her second album, Escapism, is released in 2013 and reaches number two, though no singles from it chart. After this release, she completes her contract with Sony Music. Her third album, Perfect Tense, is produced by Liam Howe and issued through Instant Records, the label owned by American producer Richard Gottehrer. The album’s singles include Social Club, Sorrow Is A Shadow, Ghostfriend and Perfect Tense.

Fallulah is compared with Florence + the Machine, Timur Bairam, Marina and the Diamonds and Bat for Lashes. Her music is associated with indie pop, art rock and folk, and she releases material through labels including La Boom Records, Sony Music and Instant Records.
