Fake Empire is a Belgian group associated with ambient, post-punk and atmospheric music. The name is used for more than one act: one version is a Portsmouth-based post-punk band formed in 2017, while another is an indie-rock band formed at the University of New Hampshire in 2007, and a third is the experimental solo project of Scott Brown, a musician based in New Zealand.

Portsmouth post-punk band

The Portsmouth, UK-based Fake Empire forms in 2017 and releases nine singles. Its current line-up consists of Les Black, Becky Bellinger and Simon Brookes. Among its singles is Elders, which appears as the latest release named in the available information.

University of New Hampshire indie-rock band

Another Fake Empire is an indie-rock band that forms at the University of New Hampshire in 2007. The original line-up includes Anthony Terlizzi on guitar and vocals and Brian Leahy on guitar, with Emily Ranauro joining shortly afterwards on vocals. In the autumn of 2009, bassist Dan Weatherford and drummer Joe Tonelli join the band.

The group works with Boston-based producer Paul McCaffrey and records several tracks with him, including Firefly, On The Run and Offshore.

Scott Brown solo project

A separate Fake Empire project is the experimental solo work of Scott Brown, a musician based in New Zealand. It is also listed as FakeEmpire.
