Faiz Ali Faiz

Faiz Ali Faiz is a Pakistani qawwali singer, born in 1962 in Sharaqpur. He comes from a family of qawwals with seven generations in Pakistan and begins his professional career in 1978, when he also forms his own qawwali ensemble.

He is associated with qawwali, the devotional music of the Sufi tradition within Islam, and is based in Lahore, while practising the doaba style from eastern Pakistan. His singing is noted for its wide vocal range and rich tone. He is influenced by the Sham-Chaurasi khayal school, linked to Ustad Salamat Ali Khan, and he treats Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan as a major inspiration, also performing compositions associated with him.
