Fahran
Fahran are a five-piece melodic hard rock band from Derbyshire. The group begins in 2006 under the name Toxic Federation, and it writes and performs its own material from the outset. Its debut album, Behind the Mask, appears in 2008 on an independent release, at a point when the band members’ average age is sixteen.
Early releases and development
After the first album, the band continues to build its catalogue with two further albums, As One and Distance. These releases show the group’s songwriting and developing heavier, darker sound.
Line-up changes
In 2011, the band loses both its lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. Before the end of that year, it returns to the stage with a new frontman, Nick Whitcroft. The revised five-piece line-up is described as sounding darker, heavier and more mature than before.
Live activity
Fahran is known for its live performances and plays support slots with UFO and The Answer. It also appears at Greenbelt Festival and takes headline slots at Callis Festival and Istanbul Rock Festival in Turkey.
Style
The band’s music is associated with hard rock, rock, post-grunge and alternative rock, with a melodic hard rock core.
