Face the West

Face the West are an electro Celtic group from Stornoway, associated with the Isle of Lewis. They begin in 1998 while the members are still at school and develop a reputation through extensive live performance in the Celtic and folk scene.

Line-up

The group has four core members: Keith Morrison on keyboards, piano and synths; Alasdair Maclean on accordion; David Calum Macmillan on drums; and Jane Hepburn on fiddle. The line-up also expands when former members are available to join.

Reputation and recognition

Face the West receive a nomination for Live Act of the Year at the 2009 Scots Trad Music Awards. Their live work is described as a major part of their identity, alongside an electro acoustic approach that places them within celtic, folk, electro and electronic music.

Recording

The group releases a third album, The Young Fear Nothing, which attracts strong reviews.
