Eye of Solitude

Eye of Solitude is a death-doom metal band from London, United Kingdom, active from 2010 to 2019. Formed in April 2010, the group works in the overlapping areas of doom metal, death metal and funeral doom metal, with melody also forming part of its sound.

The band is often compared with early My Dying Bride, Ahab, My Shameful and Swallow the Sun, reflecting shared elements of heavy, slow and melancholic metal. Its music is shaped by themes of emotional distress, inner pain, negativity and grief.

Releases

Eye of Solitude releases three full-length albums: The Ghost in 2011, Sui Caedere in 2012 and Canto III in 2013. It also releases two EPs: Awoken by Crows in 2012 and The Deceit in 2013.

Style and imagery

The band’s writing uses bleak, atmospheric imagery, including references to suffering, abandoned despair, forests, unsettled spirits, nightmare, enlightenment and escape into peace and eternal rest.
